Indigenous, Black, People of Color and Women Owned Business Developments for Rental Housing Dashboard

In 2024, 12 of the 21 selected developments included at least two of these businesses. While the percentage has fluctuated, half (55%) of the selected developments since the 2021 RFP have included two or more businesses that are owned or run by a woman and/or a person who is Indigenous, Black or of color. 

Increasing the number of businesses owned or run by a woman or someone who is Indigenous, Black, or a person of color in housing developments ensures that a diverse range of companies and organizations benefit from the housing economy that Minnesota Housing helps finance.

Applicants to Minnesota Housing’s Consolidated Request for Proposal (RFP) for rental housing receive points in the selection process based on the number of businesses involved in the developments that are owned or run by a woman or someone who is Indigenous, Black or a person of color. This metric captures the number and share of selected developments that included at least two businesses that meet this criterion.

The types of business involved in rental housing development include developers, general contractors, architects, law firms, etc.
